MECCA DICKERSON
Vivacious Faces by Mecca
MAKE-UP ARTIST

Mecca Dickerson has a makeup career that spans over fifteen years in film, television, music videos and commercials, with a client list that includes Academy Award winners, Denzel Washington and Jamie Foxx, and other celebrities such as Samuel L. Jackson, Missy Elliot, Jay Z, Nia Long, and Wendy Raquel Robinson, to name a few.
Getting her start at the early age of twelve, working at her father’s beauty salon, Mecca was drawn to glamour, which eventually led her to New York where she worked as a
makeup artist on BET’s “106th & Park,” as well as a large number of music videos.
Desiring to hone her craft even more, Mecca moved to Los Angeles and worked as the key makeup artist for The TV Guide Channel. From there she landed a job at CNN as the key makeup artist for on-air talent Sibila Vargas, Brooke Anderson, Wolf Blitzer,
Anderson Cooper and Larry King; and for their various guest stars, such as Jon Voight, Bianca Jagger, Gene Simmons and Laurence Fishburne. Mecca also enjoyed covering several red carpet events, including The Academy Awards, The Golden Globes, The People’s Choice Awards, The MTV Awards, and The Emmys.
But an even bigger break came after a CNN colleague referred Mecca to work as the personal makeup artist for choreographer and leading pop music concert director, Jaime
King, who was also a judge on MTV’s “Rock the Cradle” and Bravo’s “Step it Up,” and is currently the writer/director of the upcoming Cirque du Soleil show “Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour.”
Mecca’s feature film work includes “Inside Out,” starring Eriq LaSalle, Kate Walsh and Steven Webber, “Flip the Script,” with Robin Givens and Miguel Nunez Jr., “The Seat Filler,” featuring Kelly Rowland and Duane Martin, and “30 Years to Life,” featuring Erica Alexander and Tracy Morgan. And her print work includes major magazines such as Heart and Soul (Cover – Stacy Dash), Vibe (Cover - Lil’ Kim), Teen People, Essence, and Black Enterprise.
Currently, Mecca is working as the Head of the Makeup Department for several
television projects produced by Jamie Foxx: “Night Tales,” “Indulgence,” and “Last Laugh,” as well as the feature film “Tommy’s Lil Girl,” featuring Selma Blair.  Mecca specializes in glamour and natural makeup for all ethnicities, but her talents also include special effects scars, facial hair, black eyes, cuts and bruises, dark circles, age spots, bullet wounds, and more.
Mecca continues to reside in Los Angeles, pursuing her dream to become an awardwinning makeup artist.
